KCS Fall Fundraiser

The Kensington Community Store is holding their annual Fall Fundraiser THIS weekend. Please plan to join us Sunday, October 15, 2023, for a soup dinner at the American Legion in Kensington from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Please stop by the store to donate any last minute items needed for this meal. All donations, monetary and food items, benefit our community owned store. We appreciate your contribution.

Charitable Home Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Kensington Home Charitable Foundation are pleased to announce that the Patterson Family Foundation has allowed us one more matching month towards maximizing their matching funds. Any funds raised, up to $27,143.76, will be doubled during the month of October! This year we were able to award $12,500 in grants towards bettering our local community. If we can get the additional funds raised it will allow at least an extra $2,500 in annual grants! Thanks for your support! We are doing GREAT things in Kensington

Legion this Friday Night

This week at the Kensington American Legion we will have a special of pulled pork sandwich, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and dessert. We will also have potato soup and sandwich. Our kitchen is open from 6-8 and you can call 785-476-3204 to have your order ready for pick up. Our pulled pork is cooked and provided by our members Dennis and Sandy Johnson. We appreciate their hard work and willingness to provide. Hope to see you Friday.

Vendors Invited!

Plans are in the works for the 2023 Veterans Day/Fall Festival Craft Fair in Kensington on November 11, 2023. If you are interested in being a vendor or know someone who would be, please consider this your invitation to join! Please help spread the word and contact Melissa Westbrook 785-476-8166 to reserve your spot!

Kensington Library

The Kensington Library Board would like to extend an invitation for you to join us for a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat again this year. Area and local businesses, organizations, and individuals are welcome to decorate a trunk and park around our community/school library with treats for the children. This event will be held on Halloween, Tuesday October 31, from 5:30-7:00pm. We hope you will join us!

The October selection for our new “Read It and Eat” book club is: “Magic, Lies, and Deadly Pies” by Misha Popp. {The first time Daisy Ellery killed a man with a pie, it was an accident. Now, it’s her calling. Daisy bakes sweet vengeance into her pastries, which she and her dog Zoe deliver to the men who’ve done dirty deeds to the town’s women.}

We will have multiple copies available at the library for anyone who would like to join us in reading. Later this month the Kensington Community Store will be baking a recipe (or two!) from the book. So keep an eye out for which “just desserts” they’ll be serving.

Weekly Inspirations

Just because you feel tired sometimes does not mean you don't have what it takes to overcome challenges. Love and believe in yourself through the ups and the downs. You got this!
