K-Town Kates
The K-town Kates met on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Kensington Community Center. The roll call “Where were you on 9/11” was answered by 11 members and 1 guest. The minutes from the previous meetings were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Donna Johnson. All the pies were sold at Old Fashioned Saturday night, including 4 whole pies and 2 generous monetary donations. The food pantry report was given. 14 units participated in the last distribution. Carmen and Janet will work as the additional workers in September, and Irene and Ijean at the October 21st Food Pantry.
The Drinks and Cheese party followed the conclusion of the meeting. Various wines and beverages were provided by the members, with cheese, snacks, and dessert provided by the hostesses Deb B and Loretta. A great time including several games was enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be October 9th.
Legion this Friday Night
This week at the Kensington American Legion we will have breakfast for supper. It will be biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage links, and a homemade cinnamon roll. We will have our regular menu items as well and our kitchen is open from 6-8. You can call 785-476-3204 to have your order ready for pick up. Let us help you with feeding your harvesters! Hope to see you Friday.
Vendors Invited!
Plans are in the works for the 2023 Veterans Day/Fall Festival Craft Fair in Kensington on November 11, 2023. If you are interested in being a vendor or know someone who would be, please consider this your invitation to join! Please help spread the word and contact Melissa Westbrook 785-476-8166 to reserve your spot!
Kensington Library
The Community Library Board would like to extend an invitation for you to join us for a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat again this year. Area and local businesses, organizations, and individuals are welcome to decorate a trunk and park around our community/school library with treats for the children. This event will be held on Halloween, Tuesday October 31, from 5:30-7:00pm. We hope you will join us!
Also, in collaboration with the Kensington Community Store we are trying something new! The “Read It and Eat” book club combines 2 of our favorite things: reading and eating! Each month we will feature a new title. The KCS will make a recipe from that book and have individual servings available for sale. Then, on the last Monday of the month we will get together for a book discussion at the library. Stay tuned for more information!
