Slavik Household Sale
The family of the late Elvyn and Doris Slavik will host a walk thru Household Estate Sale at the residence located at 101 S Washington in Kensington, KS April 15-17. Hours to come and browse are: April 15 from 9am to 5pm, April 16 from 9am to 5pm, and April 17 from 11am to 5pm. Offering numerous items from a smoke free and pet free home.
Potluck at the Center
The Kensington Community/Senior Center will be having a potluck supper on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. We will be eating at 6:00pm followed by games and card playing. Please bring a dish to share and any board games you would like to play. The Center will be open at 5:30pm for your convenience. Everyone is welcome. We hope to make this a monthly event.
The Center offers other activities during the month including various card games, dominoes, bingo and pool. Come by and pick-up an activity calendar and a menu for the noon lunches.
High point earners for the year received a certificate and gift.

Mother KAY Banquet
The 2022 Thunder Ridge High School Mother KAY Banquet was held on the evening of Monday, April 4, in the high school gymnasium. The theme this year was “The Power of One” with red and black colored decorations. The social hour began at 6:30pm with the banquet starting at 7:00.
KAY President, Kristal Rice welcomed everyone and board member, TyLynn Blank, blessed the meal. The scrumptious dinner was prepared by Gene’s Heartland Foods from Smith Center. The menu consisted of lettuce salad, pulled pork, party potatoes, Brookville corn and a dinner roll. This year marked the 75th anniversary of KAY and was celebrated with cupcakes for dessert. The slideshow, created by Technology Director, Mariana Escobar, highlighted the numerous events and activities the club participated in throughout the school year. Special guests were the Girls of Grace (Annette Riley, Carol Rahjes, Melissa Westbrook, and Robin Billings) who entertained everyone by singing several songs.
Following the entertainment, Mrs. Billings recognized the high point earners: TyLynn Blank, Liam Corbett, Mariana Escobar, Saige Kirchhoff, Kristal Rice, Jordyn Vales, Trinity Coomes, Alexis Holling, Sydni Rust, Toree Slavik, Giana Hoersdig, Kamryn Rietzke, Jenna Barnes, Destynee Coomes and Jenny Galicia.
Senior KAY members attending were recognized by Mrs. Boden. They included: TyLynn Blank, Olin Brown, Liam Corbett, Mariana Escobar, Paul Ferguson, Abby Hardacre, Owen Hrabe, JaCea Hunter, Saige Kirchhoff. Kristal Rice, Jaden Stauffer and Jordyn Vales.
The annual “fashion show” followed with Mrs. Billings emceeing. The evening concluded with the members reciting the KAY Pledge and Vice President Sydni Rust gave the closing. Thirty-five KAY members attended, along with fifty-seven guests. The KAY sponsors are Mrs. Kathi Boden and Mrs. Robin Billings.

Regional Solo/Small Ensemble Contest
Thunder Ridge students competed in regional solo and small ensemble contest at Cloud County Community College in Concordia on April 9. Paul Ferguson, Abby Hardacre, Trinity Coomes, and Brooklyn Stauffer all received a I rating, Samara Bapat received a II. Congratulations to these TR musicians.
Thunder Ridge Calendar of Events
The BOGO Scholastic Book Fair will be held at the Kensington Library the week of April 18-22. Even though there is no school for USD 110 on Monday 18, the library will be open from 2-7pm for book fair shoppers. We will also hold a special, family event from 6-7pm to kick off our Summer Reading Program. Join us for treats and pre-register for the “Oceans of Possibilities” coming this summer!
KAYS will host a Blood Drive in the High School gym at Kensington on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Appointments are available between 9am and 3pm. Sign up is available online at RedCrossBlood.org or through the high school office (785-476-2217). Make plans to donate and help save a life!

Kensington Library
We will be CLOSED on Good Friday. Special Hours for Monday the 18th from 2-7pm. The Scholastic ‘BOGO’ Book Fair will be here the week of April 18-22. Special family event Monday evening from 6-7pm on April 18th for families to come enjoy treats and pre-register your children for our summer library program “Oceans of Possibilities”. Book Fair hours for the rest of the week will include: Tue/Thurs from 8am-4:30pm, and Wed/Friday from 8am-5pm. Friday Night at the Legion
This week at the Kensington American Legion we will have a special of (a couple different kinds to choose from) quiche, salad, deviled eggs, and dessert. We will have our regular menu as well. Our kitchen hours are 6-8pm and you can call 785-476-3204 for us to fix up your order to go. Hope to see you Friday!
