Kensington Community Plan

Please join the Kensington City Council for a special meeting on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 7:00 pm in the St. John Lutheran Church parish hall at 708 N Main Street. Information will be provided regarding the planning process for the future of Kensington. There are 4 action plans that are critical to the future of our community: Infrastructure, Housing, Marketing, and Volunteers.

Beverly (Wolf) Mills Birthday Celebration

Saturday, April 29, 2023, family traveled to Abilene, KS in honor of Beverly Mills’ 70th birthday, which is coming up on May 8th. The celebration was held at the Brookville Motel with 22 in attendance. Pat and Mike Mancuso (Lees Summit, MO), Janeen and Rich Landoll (Marysville), Beth, Joe and Joseph (Kensington), Ron Wolf (Kensington), Marlene, Matt and Ashlynn Whitney (Plainville), Karen and Mel Simmerman (Stilwell), Floyd and Kathy Norlin (Great Bend), as well as Bev’s children Jennifer and husband Kevin Lockwood, Jeremy Studt with wife Katie and children Max and Ella.

This gathering was held on sister Pat (Wolf) Mancuso’s actual birthday and she celebrated #71. If you’d like to help Bev celebrate, please send cards to: Bev Mills 634 N Nettleton Ave Bonner Springs, KS 66012.

Alumni Banquet

The invites have been mailed out! Plan to attend the Annual Alumni Banquet on Saturday, May 27; please make reservations by May 15, 2023.

Open house from 4:00-5:30pm at the High School. Social Hour starts at 5:30 with Banquet to follow at 6:30pm at the American Legion Hall on Main Street. Honor Class pictures to be taken after. International Math Contest

On April 24, 2023, the following Thunder Ridge High School students participated in the Purple Comet Math Contest, Bryce Kelley, Sydni Rust joined us at a later time, Toree Slavik, Brian Shaw, Dashawn Eller, Joshua Ferguson, Jimmy Gower, Gianna Hoersdig, Jennifer Jones, Jimmy Escobar Orellana, Teaghan Hendryx, Keara Dodds, Michael Ferguson, Evan Slavik, Irene Tilton, Henryk Watkins, and Kaden Werle. The math contest consisted of thirty questions in which students had ninety minutes to answer all thirty questions. It is an international contest in which thousands of students compete in over fifty different countries. Thank you to the TRHS students for their dedication and diligence while competing! Good work!


Kensington Library

Attention families of Pre-K through 4th grade students: It is time to sign up for our Summer Reading Program! “All Together Now” is the theme for this year. Pre-K to 1st grade will meet on Tuesday mornings from 10-11am and 2nd to 4th grade will meet on Thursday mornings from 10-11am. We plan to start May 23rd and 25th, and will offer grab-n-go kits for the following week when Vacation Bible School is happening. We will offer fun and educational activities every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of June! We hope your kiddos will join us.


Legion Friday Night

This week at the Kensington American will have turkey and dressing bundles, crock pot corn, strawberry jello, and dessert. We will have our regular menu items as well and our kitchen hours are 6-8pm. You can call 785-476-3204 to place your orders and we will have them ready to pick up. Hope to see you Friday, and we want to wish the Thunder Ridge graduates much success in the future.
