K-Town Kates Mystery Tour
June 3, 2023
A group of 12 people met at 9:30 a.m. at the Kensington Senior/Community Center for a Mystery Tour arranged by Barbara Grauerholtz. The Mystery Tour highlighted and made us more aware of several businesses located within a 5 mile radius of Kensington.
The adventure started with rolls and coffee and a tour of the Dylan & Deidra Tweedy home and the wild animal portion (processing has to be separate from the main facility) of the Kensington Locker. We were all amazed at the size of the facility and all the mounted animals in their house and their processing plant.
From there the group ventured down the road to CenCon of Kansas where Tiffany and Ryan Rietzke explained their company's process in boring the ground for underground cables and the rock quarry portion of their operation.. We were also given a tour of their beautiful home.
Next stop was to Brian and Linda Dettmer's Airbnb house off of Highway 36. They explained the process in listing your facility and some of the rules and regulations involved.. Linda also made some of her home-made cinnamon rolls for us that she always provides to her guests. Book through Airbnb.com.
By this time we were hungry (even after eating rolls) so we headed to Phillipsburg for lunch at the Oriental Restaurant.
After lunch we came back to Kensington and went out to TiPi Taxidermy where Jamie & Sandi Reneberg gave us a tour of their facility and explained the process of tanning and mounting the various animals brought in to them. We were in awe of the process and the beautiful pieces he had including deer, bobcats, turkeys, etc.
Our last visit was to Outback Kennels where we drove through the facility and saw a variety of dog breeds they had available. Unfortunately we were unable to have a presentation from the owner due his busy schedule and the ominous looking clouds surrounding the area.
Our final stop was at the Community Center for our monthly K-town Kates meeting.
