OFSN In Kensington

Old Fashioned Saturday Night, sponsored by the Kensington Commercial/Community Club, will kick-off Friday night, August 20, with a 5K Fun Run at 8:00pm. Ice cream will be served after, free to the runners and free will donations for others.

Saturday morning, August 21, you have a choice of either playing Pasture Golf (hosted by SALS) at 8:30am or creating a craft with Kristen Minkler at 9:00am. Pasture Golf will be played in 2-person teams, $20 per team. Contact Jeff Nech at (785) 476-5185 to sign up. Pre-register to participate in the Make & Take event hosted by "The Broken Board" on Facebook or contact Brooke at (785) 476-6191. $45 will get you all you need to make and decorate a 18" wooden door hanger.

Yard Olympics will be held at 1:00pm in Levin’s lot behind the Legion and a Cardboard Boat Race will follow at the pool at 3:00pm. Boats must carry 1-4 people and registration starts at the pool park at 2:15pm.

The Car/Truck/Bike Show starts at 4:00pm in Nech’s lot north of the library. Following the Car Show, Main Street will be roped off. The kids can enjoy inflatables from 5-9:00pm and the kiddie parade will take place at 6:00pm. The theme this year is “The Circus Comes to Town”. Registration begins at 5:30pm at the city office corner for the kiddie parade.

Various food booths and activity/vendor booths will be available to the public. The Thunder Ridge Steering Committee will also be holding a raffle and games. So come on out to Kensington Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21, for a grand, old fashioned time!

Steering Committee Raffle

The Thunder Ridge Steering Committee will be having games, taking t-shirt orders, and holding a raffle at OFSN. Prizes will include 12" stuffed longhorn, LED string lights, a 43" Vizio tv, and a Thunder Ridge cedar bench made by Buzz Rice. Prices include: 4 tickets for a dollar to play game; $1 per ticket-stuffed longhorn; $3 per ticket- Lights; $5 per ticket-TV; $20 per ticket for bench. Also, the Steering Committee will be taking orders for apparel with payment due at time of order.


Mark your Calendar

Save the date for the Annual Gathering of the St. Francis Church in Claudell.

It will be Sunday Sept 5, with a 2:00 Mass at the church followed by a potluck meal. The celebrant will be former pastor Fr. Daryl Olmstead.

Plan to attend and invite your friends and families.
