Ktown Kates Met
The September 14th meeting for the Ktown Kates opened with roll call answered by 12 members naming their favorite month. Joyce and Deb B. served refreshments then Donna W. led a fun quiz.
The August minutes were read and a treasurer’s report was given. Both were declared approved.
Georgetta reported that 18 family and single units participated in the September food pantry. September 19 additional workers will be Carmen and Ijean. On October 17, the THIRD SATURDAY of the month, the additional food pantry workers will be Deb L. and Donna W.
Plans for the October meeting were discussed. NOTE the change. Due to the operating hours of the restaurant, the pizza party to plan 2021 meetings for Ktown Kates will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Kensington at 6:00 on Monday October 12 with pizza being brought in. Members are to bring their own drinks if they want something besides coffee or water.
The program for the evening was Show and Tell. Members presented items of special interest. This included treasured family pictures, a 7 generational family album, embroidery items, wall quilts, a painted tin drinking cup from Germany used as a child or by the member’s grandmother as a child, an antique metal coin bank, a display cloth with family pictures and recipes, an apron souvenir from the Athol centennial featuring the pierce arrow car converted into a fire truck from 1924. It was a most interesting evening.
Meeting adjourned.
Community Workday October 12
The Thunder Ridge students have set a date! Monday, October 12, from 8:15am to 3:30pm will be the community clean-up and work day. Please let them know if you need assistance with a project. This day is about giving back to the community and the students work hard to accomplish great things. Please call 785-476-2217 or 785-476-6037 with any projects you may have.
Thunder Ridge USD #110 Parents and Guardians,
Thanks to the combined efforts of USDA and KSDE, the Community Eligibility flexibility waiver which allowed all districts to provide free meals for students during the spring has been extended to December 31, 2020 or until funds are depleted, whichever comes first.
What does this mean to Thunder Ridge students?
Beginning September 9, 2020 all enrolled students will be eligible for FREE breakfast and FREE lunch regardless of their lunch status. This does not include extra entrees or extra milk.
On a related note - It is extremely important that you complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application if you have not done so already. Financial limits have been increased this year making it easier for more to qualify. Meal applications and lunch status of our students also has an impact on our state funding (we receive added funding). Keep in mind that the free meals program for all students is only temporary. As we begin 2021, meal pricing will again be based on student lunch status. Please take the time to complete an application as soon as possible.
Feel free to call Ginny Dunlap for further information at 785-476-3241 or email at vdunlap@usd110.net .
